About Sensei Boyer

Kyoshi Steve LaVallee with Sensei Boyer

Congratulations to Sensei Boyer!

Sensei Boyer was awarded his 3rd Degree under Kyoshi Steve LaVallee on September 27, 2009.  Osu, Sensei!

Mr. Sam Boyer began his training at the age of 13. He trained for two years in the art of Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate with Hanshi Greg Tearney at Purple Dragons in Syracuse, New York. After taking a few years off to participate in track and field, Mr. Boyer discovered he needed martial arts in his life full time.  He began studying under Shihan Jeff Sgarlata in the art of Kenpo Karate at SCS School of Self Defense and later at LaVallee's Sport Karate.

In 1995, Mr. Boyer moved to Baldwin County, Alabama, where he immediately began training in Tae Kwon Do. Sensei spent nearly ten years as a 1st Degree Black Belt, before pursuing his 2nd Degree.  He was given the opportunity to pursue his dream of owning his own school in 2004, and he, along with his wife, Crissi jumped on it.

During that time, he found he missed his Kenpo roots and began training with Shihan Sgarlata and Kyoshi Steve LaVallee, and returned to the system we now teach.  Sensei has since earned his 3rd Degree Black Belt under Kyoshi Steve LaVallee as well as his Shodan in Akayama Ryu Jujutsu under Mark Barlow Sensei.

Sensei loves the martial arts, and he loves influencing students to help them better their lives both spiritually and physically!
